Tesco does the time warp

Apologies for the absence this week, I had to give in to some vicious bug which has made me feel like death warmed up.

However, I am on the mend, despite a slight throbbing head five days on - any medical tips gratefully received!

I managed to drag myself to Canary Wharf yesterday to pick up some bits and bobs from Tesco.

I was not in the mood for any antagonism, my mission being simply to pick up essentials for the weekend.

However, despite not feeling 100 per cent, I still spotted something through bleary eyes that I couldn’t let go without a mini rant.

It had of course slipped my attention that Tesco opens late on a Sunday, so I approached the shop entrance only to be greeted by a metal grille blocking my path.

Fearing I would have to return home empty-handed, or wait outside the shop for an hour or so, I checked my watch, 11.45am.

Handily, the shop had a list of opening times on the window, surely it wouldn’t be that long before I would be allowed in.

But according to the sign, it was quite a wait - 12 hours and 15 minutes in fact.

Have a look and you will see what I mean.

Oh well I thought, I’ll pop down to boots to get some paracetamol, they won’t make me wait so long.

Alas, this was their notice of opening hours.

I can’t be the only one who has noticed this glaring inaccuracy.

There is no such time as 12am.

There is 11.59pm.....12 midnight ....and 12.01am.

There is also 11.59am.... 12 midday (or noon) .... and 12.01pm.

AM and PM start immediately after midday and midnight, so technically there are no such times as 00.00am, 00.00pm, 12.00am, or 12.00pm.

But even if there were, 12.00am would be midnight, and quite frankly I can’t wait that long for a can of chicken soup and a box of Lemsip.

I know, I know - I am being picky, but when it comes to accuracy, and attention to detail, every little helps.
