Madano jumps aboard the weather Express

It’s not that often someone takes the trouble to show appreciation for what you do.

So when it happens it is always very gratefully received.

The following was posted by communications consultancy Madano on their website.

They seem to have a bit of a soft spot for out weather coverage – thank you to writer Isabel Soper for taking the time to show your appreciation.

Over the last six months, The Express newspaper has etched a very special place in the hearts of everyone at Madano.

In spite of a momentous first half of 2012 in terms of the news agenda with the Leveson enquiry, banking scandals and eurozone crisis, The Express has fed us with a steady but nonetheless, dramatic diet of inspired ……weather coverage!

While the weird UK climate of the last six months certainly hasn’t been simple or enjoyable for many, causing problems all over the country (and our hearts truly go out to all those affected), we have enjoyed the redoubtable, bulldog spirit with which the ever enthusiastic Nathan Rao has satisfied our national obsession with the weather.

The Express’s headlines from March to the end of June just speak for themselves……….

‘New ice cold blast on way’; ‘81F: glorious spring on the way’; ‘Easter Arctic freeze on way’; ‘Now Britain is on flood alert’; ‘Coldest May for 100 years’; ‘Now we face a month of rain’; ‘Flood chaos to last all week’; ‘Britain facing new big freeze’; ‘Winter to last until June’; ‘New cold snap to last for a month’; ‘Glorious summer is on way’; ‘70mph gales to batter Britain’; ‘Worst storms for a decade’; ‘80mph storm chaos on way’; ‘Summer starts in September’……

…and most recently on 25th June….‘Summer is on the way at last’ …..(we do hope so!)

It has to be said, with all the evil and worrying events going on in the world and in an age where journalists fight it out to reveal the biggest secrets (often it seems using suspicious means to do so), reporting on simple topics such as the weather has a kind of refreshing, almost comforting feel to it.

So, without further ado we’d just like to say a big thank you to Nathan and The Express for variously brightening, darkening, chilling, raining on and scorching our days.

We look forward to hearing more about autumn storms, basking in 30˚C October sun…and the dawning of a new Christmas ice age!
