Happy birthday Madonna!!!!

It is the Queen of Pop’s birthday.

Yes our beloved Madonna has passed another year to reach the grand old age of 54,  but that isn’t slowing her down.

She is currently in the middle of a world tour after having just released an album which followed the release of her directorial debut, the film WE.

This year she also been heavily promoting her fashion line - Material Girl, her perfume - Truth or Dare, and new shoe range.

In between, of course, she has fitted in looking after her four children, maintaining her ruthless exercise regime, and just being as fabulous and amazing as she has for the past 30 years.

Nobody can ever accuse the world’s greatest material girl of taking her eye off the ball or her finger off the pulse.

So with a glass of of organic celery juice and a slice of macrobiotic birthday cake, let us all wish a very happy birthday to our first lady, our queen, our inspiration, the ever glorious Madge.

Happy birthday Madonna!!

Is it racist to mark St George's day?- Ricky Gervais thinks some may think so

I don’t like Ricky Gervais. I’ve never found him funny, he comes across as self-absorbed, arrogant and sporting a hugely over-inflated opinion of himself. I didn’t get all the fuss people made of that dance thing he did on the Office, and his infamous “two mongs don’t make a right” comments on twitter which seemingly ridiculed disabled people were at the very least, in poor taste. This morning, however, when he raised another issue  close to the bone, I found myself  thinking  he may have a point. On Twitter, he broached the super-sensitive issue of racism speaking about today being St George’s Day, a celebration of all things, well, English. Jedward spotted in the city, but what were they up to?

I know that hair, I thought to myself as I passed London’s Monument on the way home from work. Those ridiculously elongated, spiky locks, wacky costumes and irritating voices were an immediate giveaway. And of course it only took me a second to recognise Jedward – the X-Factor twins whose ludicrous image and inability to hold a note have propelled them to (semi) fame. I have nothing against them, I am only being mean, and credit where it’s due, they are fiercely determined, and have built up a pretty unique act for themselves. So well done brothers Grimes. But it has to be said, the act is based around being cringe-worthingly bad at everything they try.
