There's a monster on the loose on the Isle of Dogs
Watch out, there’s a monster about.
Or something that has a footprint like one.
The first snowfall of the winter arrived in London at the weekend, much to the delight of the little people who had been waiting since last year to build snowmen and make angels.
A layer of snow first thing in the morning had the tell tell signs of squirrels foraging, dogs and their owners taking their morning walk, and birds tip-toeing around looking for hidden morsels.
But the crisp white blanket in our back garden on the Isle of Dogs seemed to tell a far more sinister tale.

It appears something big made its way across the patio, and left this huge paw print behind.
The creature would probably have gone unnoticed had it not snowed during the night.
The size off a hand, splayed out with claws on the end, it was not the squirrel who comes every morning to collect his nuts.
Maybe it is one of those big cats they are always going on about stalking the undergrowth of the British countryside?
Or a bear - is that in any way feasible. I have been told it could be the paw print of an an urban fox but that seems unlikely, look at the size of it.

I took another picture with my hand next to it to give an idea of how big it was.
Is there a Yeti on the loose in London? And has it set up home up the road from Canary Wharf?
Any experts on wildlife, or the supernatural - please help!
Its a rabbit track for heavens sake. It has been moving from the top of the picture towards the bottom. As it moves itsback legs straddle its front and then it has stopped moving its front legs forward.
ReplyDeleteIf you are still not satisfied by my answer have a look at this blog with a rabbit track

Thanks for the comment Alan.
ReplyDeleteIt appears you are right. I asked expert Mark Fraser (Big Cats in Britain http://britishbigcats.blogspot.com) and he says it is a rabbit.
I don't know which I am more surprised at, we are talking about a back garden in a built-up area of London. Wild rabbits?
