Is there anybody out there....

Ok, everybody seems to be doing it.
Pick a word, any word on any subject and type it into Google - I guarantee somebody will have written something in a blog on the subject.
Cookery, travel, pets, investments, from what's new at the cinema to identifying the rash I discovered this morning, you name it, if it's worth talking about it's worth broadcasting across the world wide web - it's time to start blogging.
I'll be honest - until relatively recently I had no idea what "blogging" was.
To me it was just another of those new-fangled poncy terms that slithered unchecked into the English language without my realising.
Suddenly everyone around me seemed to know exactly what it meant and was doing it - except, of course, me.
Bandying it around with some inside knowledge into an intriguing world that despite being curious about, I was are reluctant to take the first step into.
A bit like "tweeting"or "de-friending" - both of which I now do regularly.
"Blogging" even sounds funny, but then so did Google when I first heard someone say it.
I don't laugh anymore when someone tells me they just "Googled themselves", or even better "before you meet a potential suitor for the first time you should always Google them" - surely that was something you saved until at least the third date?
Anyway back to blogging and as I said, everyone seems to be doing it and at the beginning of the year I decided it was about time I jumped on the bandwagon and started.
I am after all a writer by trade, so publishing my thoughts freely, outside the confines of an editorial brief can only be a more creative and enjoyable extension to what I do every day.
After a day in the newsroom of a national newspaper there must be no better way to unleash my pent up child-like creativity than to spill my thoughts unhindered onto my on personal/public journal, and let the whole world see.
So here I am, it took me around a minute to set up an account, and my finger tips are tingling with enthusiasm to start telling the entire virtual megasphere about.....
....first stalling point, and so hopelessly early on in my new venture.....I hadn't actually thought about that bit.
What on earth can I burst onto the internet and shout out to the whole of cyberspace?
What have I to say that anyone out there will be interested in, and more to the point, who will know I'm even here saying it?... let's worry about that later.
But I am still left with the big question, what is worth blogging about??
...
A quick Google of the word "blogging" later...
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought, it is as I suspected - anything, everything and the whole world in between.
My search also revealed a friend of mine has been at it without even telling me.
What she's written is actually quite interesting, and, slightly more revealing than anything she's told me in the years I have known her.
But more importantly, it follows no format, no rule of theme or subject matter, she just seems to pick a subject and write about it.
Well here goes, the birth of the new me, the new blogging me, a blogger, someone who has something to say and is going to tell the whole planet whether they want to hear it or not.
The world is my blogging oyster.
The only question left in my mind...is anybody actually out there?
